Our LeonaTM (PA66 and PA 66/6I) family of polymers is one of our engineering grades of resins.  Nylons are typically known for their increased rigidity, tensile strength, superior thermal stability at high temperatures, and enhanced ignition resistance, as compared to other materials.  LeonaTM comes in varieties with mineral and/or glass fiber reinforcements.

Rigorous or challenging operating environments that require higher performance of components should consider specifying LeonaTM.

Key Attributes:

  • High melting point
  • Excellent Heat resistance
  • Self-extinguishing
  • Toughness
  • Excellent Creep resistance
  • Excellent Fatigue resistance
  • Friction resistance
  • Good Durability
  • Electrical properties
  • Chemical and oil resistance

Available Grades:

LeonaTM - 90G & 91G Series (polyamide 6/6+6i):

The 90G & 91G Series are partially aromatic polyamide copolymers.  They have good appearance retention, high modulus (over 16 GPa), isotropic shrinkage (maintaining dimensional accuracy and low post-mold warpage), outstanding weatherability and superior vibration dampening characteristics.  The 90G Series is a glass fiber reinforced material whereas the 91G Series is a glass fiber and mineral reinforced material.

Both grades have excellent flowability, making thin wall and lower mass designs possible.  These grades can also be molded at 90 degree Celsius, enabling the use of water temperature controls.  Lower molding and processing temperatures create significant savings in manufacturing costs and piece price as well as the added benefits of a safer manufacturing environment by avoiding the use of hot oils in the molding process.

The 91G Series is ideal for exterior applications as its formulation has the added benefit of improved UV performance and aesthetics.

Typical applications include rail legs, wind deflectors, roof rails, bonnet (hood) lever, spoilers, exterior door handles, steering column levers, air vent flaps, door inner, cup holders, air inlet valves, mirror brackets and mirror stays.  Material properties also make it an ideal candidate for metal replacement and vehicle weight reduction strategies.
